Poem
A dear dear friend of mine, Suzanne, is such a wonderful Christian woman and extremely talented in many things. I just found out today that poetry is one of those things. We all have been asking ourselves WHY after the tragedy at Virginia Tech and Suz has put a lot of thoughts down on paper.
A call in the void- a note hangs still-
a verse finds life and emptiness thrills.
WHY! Screams hard and pain rises up,
there is too much life in this lonely cup.
A soul lost hope and innocence wept-
a bargain exchanged with hell in it’s gap.
I ache for the strangers whose lives were torn-
for hatred and loss and bittersweet scorn.
WHY! Screams hard and pain rises up,
there was too much life in this lonely cup.
Clouds gather and days fall-
moons come and suns yawn-
a life no longer slumbers yet- with the breath
of a flower and dreams that are met-
The WHY screams louder! I cry I don’t know!
My sorrow, my pain, MY cup overflows!
Release this state! I cry out in pain-erase this evil-
take away the strain- that lives in my soul and
leave me won’t be, that burrows and labors to
take all of me.
Help us remember a day long ago, when flowers
filled the garden- and dreams did flow-
languid with color and vibrant with life-
recall if you will, with all of your might.
When hearts were strong and seemingly be and
Death marched forward without vengeance you see.
There was this place I know it exist when all of us slept
and cease to persist-
A cup too full must overflow, but the content that weeps when left on it’s own-
can be elixir or poison left still near-
when a WHY screams loud and no one can hear.
Suzanne
