I've written several posts about the baby birds we have around the house. Unfortunately something got a couple of the birds and Ben found them yesterday...one in our yard and one in the neighbors. Another nest that had babies was empty and we found no sign of anything having happened to them. Now....today...well, this morning...one of the four babies in a nest above the roses decided it was time to jump. So he did. Ben didn't think it was time for him to 'leave his nest' so...ok yes, he put on a glove and stuck the baby back in his nest snug with his siblings. About an hour ago, he jumped again. I told Ben it was probably just time for him to go out on his own but he can't fly so we're worried that a cat or something will get to him. He disappeared in the bushes and we didn't see him again. That is...until one of his siblings decided he, too, wanted to be curious and jump. When he did he landed in the bushes below the roses and, low and behold, in the bush next to him sat...still sits...the first little bird.

The two little jumpers...still sitting on their little branches in the bushes below the roses.

Great photos. As I walked into one of the rear entrances of our church this morning, I noticed that the robin's nest on the ledge had little fledglings peeking over the top of the nest.
