Dinner and a Project for Ben

It was Zach Frye's birthday and the only thing he
ever asks for from Ben is Fried Rice.
Ben loves that....someone other than me and the boys that love his cooking.
So this weekend he made Zach Chicken Adobo and Fried Rice.
That's sort of a staple food here since Ben is Filipino.
And we LOVE it when he cooks.
*Check out this Filippino video by the Black Eyed Peas
(Allan Pineda aka apl.de.ap is Filippino!)*

Ben tends to hang out in the garage on the weekends working on projects if he's not cooking. This weekend was no different. I've been asking him to make me something just outside the door to hang the broom etc. This is what he came up with. I love that he's so handy....it'll help when we start laying hardwood floors next month!

He couldn't find S Hooks so this is what he did instead...

Hope you had a great weekend!
Happy Presidents Day!!!

Snap a Picture or Save Myself

I got scolded today. By this man. :O)
The hubby.

Because of this...

I just couldn't help it. They looked so cute on the couch together. And I HAD to take a picture. That's what you do when you see something this precious. You snap a shot so you can keep it in your file of photos forever right?
Anyway,
I got Comet off the couch and let Owen go on happily watching cartoons without his warm sidekick.

The Finished Product!

I've been a little absent lately..ok a lot absent...but I've got a lot of pictures to share! You saw the photos from Ben and Leon working so hard on our little alcove above the fireplace. Well here are the rest of the pics. Angel took Leon to Vegas for his birthday and Ben worked tirelessly to finish it! He did such a good job!
Sorry...I just love his legs. teehee

:O) More leg action...

Beautiful isn't it?

Project - The Beginning

There's nothing like starting a project to make a man happy as a clam!

Ben and Leon have started a project over the fireplace. They're making a recess to put the tv and dvd player. We're really excited but I'm happy that Leon is helping because Ben's never done anything this big before!
Hope you're all having a great weekend!!

Project - Two

(of the project) there was Ben and Leon. And me and my camera. For a couple days they mostly talked and planned and tried to get a feel of what the other thought and how they wanted to do the project.
The Project: A recessed entertainment center above the fireplace.

Ben's never done anything like this before so we enlisted Leon, Angel's hubby, to help because he HAS done stuff like this before. And he's VERY good at it.

Measuring here...
Oh my goodness now we start demolition...
and Ben takes the saw...
it's not as big as it looks...
this was just so they could look in and see what exactly is behind the wall...
THE NEXT DAY: scoring the square....
Comet had to be put in his crate several times because he couldn't handle the noise without barking and making a complete nuisance of himself.
it's all coming apart!!

it's getting scary...there's a hole in my wall...
now it's a huge hole....

Sidenote: sorry...I just love Bens legs. :O)

the boys sitting on the couch watching and trying to avoid bursting eardrums...

and now they bring out the big guns...well, the big saw....to get the studs out....

they're almost out...

Sidenote: sorry...more leg action...doesn't he have nice legs?
studs gone....

uh oh...they dropped the saw blade behind the fireplace!
this was too funny. they had to get the vaccum so Ben could reach behind and get it out.
Bens so proud.....
more planning....these boys are a lot alike.
done for the day...
It's getting closer and closer to being done!! We're so excited! It's hard to get them to stop and pay attention to other things when they get started though.
